Having showed my work to my peers during the chat session yesterday, they asked whether they could see the original image next to the new image that had been worked in High Dynamic Range; so here they are…I feel that the images do benefit from being processed in High Dynamic Range, but also feel that this has also created some digital noise that will have to be resolved, and will probably involve another software package. Having looked around the web for other examples of HDR, I feel that it is very easy to overwork the image, leaving them looking unnatural. Although some people may be looking to create such effects, I am looking to enhance my photos without destroying them and with these examples, I don’t think I have gone too far with the processing. I feel through further experimentation, I may be able to understand the software more, and use it throughout the project.
If I was to reshoot these images/sequences again, I think I would be tempted to underexpose them, as I think these may actually present a better image, although I think I will bear this in mind when shooting in the future.
I did find the HDR a little challenging at first, although it felt more comfortable after a few hours use. I think that with more use, I will be able to define a style of working and be able to implement this when working in the future. It may be worth recording various stages of the processing to reflect upon at a later date.
